How to Compare Two Different CFD Solutions in ANSYS CFD Post
Hello! Today, I'm going to show you an easy way to compare two different CFD solutions using ANSYS CFD Post. This process involves loading and analyzing two sets of solutions to compare flow velocities.
Steps to Compare CFD Solutions

Load the First Solution:
Begin by loading the first set of solutions. We will focus on comparing the flow velocity within a specific box.

Load the Second Solution:
Next, load the second solution while keeping the current cases loaded. CFD Post will automatically create two views, displaying Solution 1 and Solution 2 side by side.

Load a State File:
I have already created a state file that includes specific sections and plots. Load this file to visualize the velocity contours from the inlet to the outlet, along with axial slices showing these contours.

Switch Between Solutions:
Initially, the view will show Solution 1 results. Use the button to switch to Solution 2 within the same view.

Activate Case Comparison:
To enhance the comparison, use the side-by-side feature in CFD Post. Click the button to activate case comparison and hit "Apply".

View the Comparison:
CFD Post will split the screen into three components:
- Top Left: Solution 1
- Top Right: Solution 2
- Bottom: The difference between the two solutions
Benefits of Side-by-Side Comparison
- Simultaneously view both solutions and their differences.
- Interactively explore different sections and views.
- Zoom in and out to focus on areas of interest.

Hello. Today I'm going to show an easy way of comparing two different CFD solutions in ANSYS CFD Post. For this purpose, let's first load the first solution, our first set of solutions. And here we're going to compare the flow velocity in this box. So we loaded our first set of solutions.
Now let's go load the results. Let's load the second solution, but we want to keep the current cases loaded. Now CFD Post automatically creates two views and has the solutions side by side. I have already created a state file.
So I'm going to load that in, which has some particular sections and plots. So, let's go to the next one. Right now, it is reading the post file. And as you can see, it does show the velocity contour from inlet to the outlet, and it has some axial slices that show the velocity contours.
So, right now, you can see it's showing the solution one results. From the button here, we can switch to solution two. And in the same view, it's just going to show the solution two results. So, let's go to the next one. And here we're going to change the results.
So, this is certainly one way of comparing the two solutions. However, CFD Post has this feature of side by side comparison, which makes it even better.
So, I'm going to click this button here, and I'm going to say "Case Comparison Active," and I'm going to hit "Apply." Now CFD Post is going to split the screen into three components.
And it is going to show on the top left solution one, top right solution two, and the bottom picture will show the difference. So, in one shot, you have the two solutions and the delta between them. And what's more, you can see the difference between the two.
So, move those live, look at different sections from different views, zoom in and out to areas of interest.
