License Error Solution
Hello everyone, this is Daniel Esmaili. On behalf of the Engineering Corporation, I'm going to discuss a solution to one of the most common license errors that our customers encounter with the Pro Premium Enterprise license update.
Common License Errors
The most common errors that customers experience are as follows:
- PPE Error: hfss_solve does not exist in the license pool.
- Failure to enable feature using current license settings.
- Note that Pro Premium Enterprise licenses are available on your server, or it has failed to enable the feature using current license settings.
- Request named HFSS_underline_solve is not available.
Key Points in Error Messages
When you encounter these errors, look for the following key terms in the error message:
- HFSS solver or HFSS_underline_solve: These are from the old license increment and do not exist in the updated version.
Solution
The solution is straightforward:
- Go to the tool.
- Under Options, click on General Options.
- Activate Desktop Configuration and ensure it is checked.
Let me show you in the software. This is HFSS, but it could be any electronic desktop. Navigate to Options, then General Options, and if the checkbox is not checked, please check it and click OK.

So, the most common errors that customers encounter are shown here. If you see one of these errors, I'll give you the solution in just a second.
The key things to look for in the error message are "HFSS solver" or "HFSS\_solve." These are from the old license increment and no longer exist in the updated one. That's why the license is looking for them. We need to make some changes.
Other errors may look like this: "Failure to enable feature using current license settings." Note that Pro Premium Enterprise licenses are available on your server, or it is "failed to enable feature user in current license settings." Again, as you see here, the key words are "PPE" or "HFSS solver," which indicate that it is not available and requests "HFSS\_solve." The only way to get that crossover is to choose the wrong change.
The fourth error is "failure to enable feature using current license settings." Note that "Pro\_solve" is missing. Again, you'll see "HFSS\_solve" here, just as we saw before. So, what is the solution? It's very easy.
All we need to do is go to the tool, then under options, click on general options, and then activate desktop configuration, making sure this is checked. Let me show you in the software. This is HFSS.
We go to options, general options, and up here, if this is not checked, just please check it and make sure you click okay. I hope you find this useful. This is very common, so we thought we'd share this with others so you can benefit from it as well. It is very common and has a very easy solution.
