SIwave in 2 Minutes: Create Pin Groups for All Components
This guide explains how to create pin groups for all the components in a PCB model. If you have numerous components and wish to create a pin group for each net connected to those components, follow these steps.
Example Scenario
Consider a connector component connected to two nets: 12 Volt and Ground. This connector uses:
- Three pins for the 12 Volt net
- Three pins for the Ground net
The goal is to combine the three pins of the 12 Volt net into one group and the three pins of the Ground net into another group. This process should be repeated for all other components.
Steps to Create Pin Groups
- Go to Tools and select Create Pin Group.
- In the Part Name field, enter a placeholder name (e.g., "I don't know").
- Select the option Create Pin Group for Each Part.
- Ensure the option Create Pin Groups for Each Net is selected to prevent combining voltages with grounds.
- Press Create Pin Group to generate all the pin groups.
By following these steps, you can efficiently create pin groups for all components in your PCB model.

"How to Create Pin Groups for All Components in a Model: SIwave in 2 Minutes Create pin groups for all the components in a model. Suppose you have many components in your PCB, and you would like to create one pin group for each net connected to that component.
For example, I have a connector here, a component connected to two nets, the 12-volt and the ground, but it's connected to the 12-volt net using three pins, and to the ground one using three pins. So I want these three to be combined, and these three of the grounds to be combined.
And I want to do exactly the same thing for all the other components. To do that in one shot, go to Tools, Create Pin Group.
In the Part Name, say "I don't know." Select the option "Create pin group for each part." Ensure you select the option "Create pin groups for each net" so that voltages will not be combined with grounds. Press "Create Pin Group," and all the groups will be created. Thank you."
