Detecting Small Structures in SIwave
This transcript provides a guide on how to detect structures that are smaller than a specific area in SIwave. The process involves using the special selection features to identify these structures based on planar geometry.
Steps to Detect Small Structures
- Go to the Special Select menu.
- Select Planar Geometry by Area.
- Specify the maximum area. Any structure below this area will be selected.
- Choose the type of structures you want to detect. Options include:
- Paths
- Planes
- Traces
- Click Select Geometry to view all traces with areas smaller than the specified maximum.
- If you select only planes, it will show only the planes smaller than the specified area.
Note: The process does not provide information about paths. However, you can select paths with an area of the same size or less than the specified number.
Thank you for using this guide to detect small structures in SIwave.

"How can you detect structures smaller than a specific area in SIwave? Go to 'Special Select' and choose 'Planar Geometry by Area.' Here, you can specify the maximum area, and anything below that will be selected. Then, select the type of structures you want to detect: paths, planes, or traces.
For example, if you select 'Geometry' and specify an area, it will show all traces with areas smaller than the specified area. If you select only 'Planes,' it will show only the planes smaller than the specified area. Note that paths with the same area will not be visible.
You can select an area of the same size or less than a specific number. Thank you."
