Workshop – Contact Surface Wear Simulation
This example problem demonstrates the simulation of wear at a contact surface. The wear occurs at the interface between a hemispherical ring rotating over a flat ring. The following characteristics of wear are demonstrated: removal of material due to wear, changes in contact pressure and area due to wear, and a continuous decrease of the wear rate in steady state conditions.
The following features and capabilities are highlighted:
- Contact surface wear
- Mesh nonlinear adaptivity based on a wear criterion
- User-defined wear
