HPC – 10x Faster Insight

In the past, The speed of structural analysis has been limited by a number of factors. Complex structural simulations did not perform well, and simplified models had to be used. Adding more computing power did not necessarily mean faster solutions.

Now with ANSYS High Performance Computing (HPC) 17.0, you can accelerate Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations by 10x or more by adding additional compute cores. ANSYS 17.0 can utilize up to an incredible 1000 cores, substantially reducing the time to get the answers you need.

Nearly any structural simulation can benefit from the increasing power that ANSYS HPC solutions can unlock. In a typical non-linear FEA case with a few million degrees of freedom (MDOF), you might need to investigate many different scenarios in your analysis, but the model’s size and complexity can make that prohibitively time-consuming. With ANSYS HPC, you can move from 16 to 256 cores and speed the simulation up by 10x. Move to 1000 cores and you’ll see dramatically faster results.

The additional speed and capabilities of ANSYS 17.0 break down the barriers that limit model size and complexity. Greater understanding of a design’s performance means you can confidently bring high quality products to market faster.

Component Mode Synthesis

ANSYS Mechanical R17.0 allows a mixture of rigid bodies and bodies modelled using component mode synthesis (CMS) to be combined in 1 analysis. Results can be expanded from the CMS part to 3D results easily and quickly. The animation here shows a model of an excavator.
