ANSYS High-Performance Computing

High-performance computing (HPC) adds tremendous value to engineering simulation by enabling the creation of large, high-fidelity models that yield accurate and detailed insight into the performance of a proposed design. High-fidelity simulations allow engineering teams to innovate with a high degree of confidence that their products will meet customer expectations — because their extremely accurate simulations are predicting the actual performance of the product under real-world conditions.

HPC also adds value by enabling greater simulation throughput. Using HPC resources, engineering teams can analyze not just a single design idea, but many design variations. By simulating multiple design ideas concurrently, R&D teams can identify dramatic engineering improvements early in the design process, prior to and more effectively than physical prototyping alone.

ANSYS HPC specifically enables parallel processing for solution of the toughest, higher-fidelity models — including more geometric detail, larger systems and more complex physics. Using ANSYS HPC to understand detailed product behavior provides companies with confidence in the design and helps ensure that the product will succeed in the market.

HPC Products

HPC Packs

Enablers of high fidelity, ANSYS HPC Packs allow scalability in use of high-performance computing to whatever level a simulation requires. A group of ANSYS HPC Packs can be used to enable entry-level parallel processing for multiple simulations or can be combined to offer highly scaled parallel for the most challenging projects.

Cross-Physics Support

Whatever the simulation need, ANSYS HPC provides the parallel processing capability required to accelerate time-to-solution and solve the highest fidelity problems. The portfolio of ANSYS mechanical and fluid solvers — including ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Autodyn, ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, ANSYS Icepak, and ANSYS Polyflow software — all use the same ANSYS HPC licenses to execute in parallel. Buy once, deploy once and use parallel processing when and where it is needed. HPC capabilities are available forANSYS electromagnetics products as well.

Virtually Unlimited Parallel

ANSYS HPC Packs are a flexible way to license parallel processing capability. For single users who want the ability to run simulations on a workstation, a single ANSYS HPC Pack provides great value with increased throughput of up to 8 times. For users with access to larger HPC resources, multiple HPC Packs can be combined to enable parallel processing on hundreds or even thousands of processing cores. ANSYS HPC Packs offer virtually unlimited parallel processing for the biggest jobs, combined with the ability to run multiple jobs using everyday parallel capacity.

HPC Parametric Pack

The ANSYS HPC Parametric Pack license amplifies the available licenses for individual applications (pre-processing, meshing, solve, HPC, post-processing), enabling simultaneous execution of multiple design points while consuming just one set of application licenses.

For a very large structural mechanics model of a tractor axle, the total elapsed time consumed can be significantly reduced by using ANSYS HPC Parametric Pack functionality.

Scalable Licensing

Following the structure of the ANSYS HPC Pack license used to deliver scalable parallel processing for single jobs, the ANSYS HPC Parametric Pack license scales the user’s ability to run multiple simultaneous parametric analyses. One ANSYS HPC Parametric Pack license enables up to four simultaneous design evaluations – with no additional application licenses required.

robustdesign-licensing-bg

Similar to ANSYS HPC Packs that deliver scalable parallel processing, Parametric Packs scale functionality when the customer chooses to use more than one pack per parametric design study.

Each additional HPC Parametric Pack license doubles the number of designs that can be evaluated simultaneously, up to 64 parametric jobs when five parametric pack licenses are invoked.

Other ANSYS products can participate in a simultaneous design-point update, provided that sufficient individual application licenses are available during the simultaneous execution of the multiple design points.

HPC Licensing Support

ANSYS HPC Parametric Pack licensing treats high-performance computing licensing in exactly the same way it treats solver licenses, meshing licenses and other base application licenses invoked by the parametrically linked design study. You can reserve the number of parallel processes to be used for one design point, and that amount of parallel processing will become available for execution of all simultaneous design points.

Electronics HPC Packs

ANSYS Electronics HPC Packs are a flexible way to license parallel processing capability. For single users who want the ability to run simulations on a workstation, a single Electronics HPC Pack provides great value with increased throughput of up to eight times. For users with access to larger HPC resources, multiple HPC packs can be combined to enable parallel processing on hundreds or even thousands of processing cores. ANSYS HPC packs offer virtually unlimited parallel processing for the biggest jobs, combined with the ability to run multiple jobs using every day parallel capacity.

HPC Workgroup

ANSYS HPC Workgroup solutions offer volume parallel to enhance the throughput of multiple simulations and improve the productivity of users within a single co-located workgroup.

Cross-Physics Support

Whatever your simulation need, ANSYS HPC Workgroup solutions provide the parallel processing capability required to accelerate time-to-solution and solve the highest fidelity problems. The full portfolio of ANSYS solvers — including ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Autodyn, ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS CFX, ANSYS Icepak, and ANSYS Polyflow software — all use the same ANSYS HPC licenses to execute in parallel. Buy once, deploy once and use parallel processing when and where it is needed.

Complete Workgroup Flexibility

ANSYS HPC Workgroup licenses enable the total number of processing cores that a team has available for ANSYS applications. Each simulation can use any number of parallel processing instances enabled under the HPC Workgroup  license. If there are multiple users running on workstations or users accessing a larger HPC resource for their most challenging simulations, the HPC Workgroup licenses can be flexibly deployed where needed.

HPC Enterprise

ANSYS HPC Enterprise solutions provide volume parallel capabilities to support multiple users, with complete flexibility to deploy and use the software wherever there are distributed resources.

Cross-Physics Support

Whatever the simulation need, ANSYS HPC Enterprise solutions provide the parallel processing capability required to accelerate time-to-solution and solve the highest fidelity problems. The full portfolio of ANSYS solvers — includingANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS AUTODYN, ANSYS FLUENT, ANSYS CFX,ANSYS Icepak, and ANSYS POLYFLOW software — all use the same ANSYS HPC licenses to execute in parallel. Buy once, deploy once and use parallel processing when and where it is needed.
